About AccessHealth Spartanburg:
AccessHealth Spartanburg (AHS) is designed to help uplift the people in the community without health insurance. AHS was created by a diverse group of community organizations with a shared desire to collaborate to improve access and quality of care for low income, uninsured patients in Spartanburg County.
For many reasons, the uninsured in Spartanburg County often delay primary and specialty care or seek treatment at hospital emergency departments. Last year, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and Mary Black Health System provided thousands of dollars in charity care. As happens in hospitals across the country, the costs incurred by the hospitals to care for the uninsured are shifted to other areas, which mean higher costs of care for everyone.
Launched in July 2010, AccessHealth Spartanburg serves as a central location for Spartanburg’s uninsured population to receive care management, navigation, and connection to needed services. For admission into the AccessHealth Spartanburg program, individuals call the main office to schedule an appointment with an eligibility specialist.
