On the Issues
These are SCHA’s advocacy priorities.
Behavioral Health
SCHA supports broad measures to improve the state’s behavioral healthcare system by modernizing behavioral health patient transport, providing programs for crisis intervention and integrating behavioral health services into primary care.
Certificate of Need
SCHA supports modernizing the state’s CON laws to limit the appeals process, reduce the projects that require approval and streamline the system.
Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
SCHA supports South Carolina joining the IMLC to expand access to care and address the physician shortage.
Telehealth Access & Reimbursement
SCHA believes that as the ability to use telemedicine to treat a variety of health issues expands, the reimbursement and utilization of technology should also expand.
Tort Reform
SCHA opposes unreasonable increases and additional exceptions to the Tort Claims Act.
Workplace Violence
SCHA has focused our legislative strategy on establishing enhanced penalties for acts of violence committed against a healthcare worker.
