QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, digital media, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms
  • Experience creating content for digital channels
  • Experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Portfolio showing a variety of design pieces that demonstrate range of ability
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic photography and video editing skills

Preferred

  • Email marketing experience
  • Website CMS experience
  • Analytics and reporting experience
  • Healthcare/nonprofit communications knowledge

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Digital Communications Specialist supports the South Carolina Hospital Association’s communications objectives by creating, distributing, and optimizing content that informs, engages, and inspires key audiences. This position plays an important role in promoting SCHA initiatives, advocacy efforts, events, educational programs, and member hospital stories through social media, email marketing, website content, photography, video, and other digital platforms. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications team and internal stakeholders, the specialist helps strengthen SCHA’s brand, expand audience engagement, and deliver meaningful communications that support the association’s mission and strategic goals.

This is a hybrid role (in-office and some remote work), based in Columbia, SC.

DUTIES:

  • Manage and schedule social media content
  • Create graphics, photos, videos, reels, and posts
  • Support SCHA initiative campaigns
  • Draft newsletters, emails, and website content
  • Update website content
  • Capture content at events and member hospitals
  • Monitor analytics and prepare reports
  • Ensure brand consistency across channels
  • Other duties as assigned

SPAN OF SUPERVISION: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: In-person SCHA meetings and minimal travel, within South Carolina.
