SCHA Offers Deep Dive on Medicare and CMS Methodologies for Key Quality Programs
SCHA’s in-house Data Team is bringing a special educational opportunity to our members in partnership with DataGen, a healthcare analytics and consulting firm that works with 46 state hospital associations and 10 multi-state health systems on Medicare and CMS program methodologies. This collaboration is designed to provide South Carolina hospitals with a deeper understanding of federal value-based care initiatives and their local impacts. By combining SCHA’s intimate knowledge of the state’s healthcare landscape with DataGen’s advanced analytics and policy acumen, this initiative delivers tailored, actionable intelligence to hospital leaders across the state.
As part of this effort, SCHA and DataGen are offering a two-part educational webinar series focused on key Medicare quality programs. These sessions are crafted to support hospital executive teams and quality leaders in navigating the complexities of CMS programs and using data to drive performance improvement.
Session 1, scheduled for Tuesday, June 24th from 1–2 p.m., will focus on Medicare’s Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program. DataGen will provide a comprehensive overview of the VBP framework, including a detailed explanation of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) methodology. Attendees will also receive a walkthrough of the VBP analysis provided through SCHA, along with a review of how the program has impacted South Carolina hospitals in recent years.
Session 2, on Thursday, July 10th from 1–2 p.m., will explore the Readmission Reduction Program (RRP) and Hospital-Acquired Condition (HAC) program. DataGen will again offer a deep dive into CMS methodologies and present a detailed analysis of the RRP and HAC data available through SCHA. This session will also highlight the financial and quality implications of these programs for South Carolina hospitals.
For hospital executives and quality leaders, these sessions offer a rare opportunity to gain clarity on complex CMS programs and to use actionable data to inform strategic decisions. Understanding how these programs affect reimbursement and public quality ratings is essential for improving patient outcomes and maintaining financial sustainability.
Ultimately, this collaboration between SCHA and DataGen empowers South Carolina’s hospital community with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in a value-based care landscape. By leveraging DataGen’s analytics and SCHA’s commitment to statewide improvement, hospitals can better align their efforts with CMS priorities and drive meaningful improvements in care delivery.
