SCHA Out and About, Vol. 10: Regional Leadership Councils, a Special Anniversary, & More
Another update from SCHA President & CEO Thornton Kirby’s travels around the state advancing a better state of health.
In the last installment of our travel blog series, we feature visits to multiple EmPATH sites across the state. During the same period, our SCHA team was hosting four Regional Leadership Council meetings across the state. As always, we gathered great feedback from hospital leaders on a variety of important topics. The featured topic was workplace violence, and our communications team presented new media that will be unveiled publicly in the coming weeks. I also was able to attend the 10-year birthday celebration for Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge.
After the Lowcountry RLC meeting I paid a visit to East Cooper Medical Center, where I had a great meeting with CEO Tyler Sherrill and Novant’s SC Market President Jason Bernd. It was a pleasure to discuss multiple opportunities for Novant’s hospitals to get more involved with SCHA.
We’re in the midst of the legislative session, and that means there are lots of politically oriented meetings. In recent weeks I’ve attended two Republican caucus dinners, one with leaders of the House and one with leaders of the Senate. SCHA is a top-level sponsor of Republican and Democratic caucuses this year, and that has allowed our senior staff and Board members to spend a lot more time with legislative leaders. It’s been a great investment!
This week I had the pleasure of delivering the keynote address at the SC Public Health Association’s Annual Meeting in Myrtle Beach. It was a great group—several hundred of our colleagues who have devoted their careers to improving the health of our population. Thanks to SCPHA for their leadership!
Last week I also had the pleasure of attending a 10-year birthday celebration for Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge. Kudos to all the caregivers and leaders who have contributed to Parkridge and helped to serve Irmo and the surrounding community!
