Kyle Petersen
Kyle is a strategic communications professional and writer with ten years of experience shaping narratives within South Carolina’s healthcare sector. In his role as Communications Manager at SCHA he does everything from directing digital communications strategies and writing feature stories to media relations and content production, including the Tell Us WHY podcast and award-winning television productions in collaboration with SC ETV. He is passionate about translating complex healthcare issues into clear, accessible language and content and telling real stories about the meaningful impact South Carolinians from all walks of life make in their communities.
Alongside his corporate communications work, Kyle also has a background as a freelance journalist, writing and reporting for publications like The Post & Courier, Charleston City Paper, Asheville Mountain Xpress, No Depression, and Jasper magazine. His storytelling expertise is deeply rooted in his academic background at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a Master’s degree in American Literature, did some Ph.D. work with a focus on contemporary Southern culture, and served as an instructor. In his spare time, he enjoys dad rock, dad lit, and other dad-related activities.
