The American Public Health Association Recognizes AccessHealth Spartanburg with National Awards
AccessHealth Spartanburg has been repeatedly recognized by national groups for its innovative approach to care navigation and improving health outcomes for people with significant barriers to care. At the November meeting of the American Public Health Association, the network received two recognitions for their efforts.
The first award, for Outstanding Community Health Worker Group of the Year, recognizes an organization that seeks to impact community health through the work of community health workers. In addition to that award, Care Navigator Sheri Crocker received the Outstanding Community Health Worker Award. Crocker has worked for AccessHealth Spartanburg since 2016.
“Sheri works with clients who have very complex medical and social issues,” said AHS Director Summer Tebalt. “Many of her clients are homeless, have mental health disease, and have other complicated barriers to overcome. Although her work is demanding and mentally taxing, she maintains positivity and professionalism with every client. It was an honor to nominate her for this award, and I am so happy the American Public Health Association has recognized her with this national award.”
