SCHA Rolls Out Just Culture Training Opportunities for 2026

The South Carolina Hospital Association is partnering with the Medical University of South Carolina and ECRI to offer both in-person and virtual Just Culture training courses designed to equip leaders and teams with the tools to foster accountability, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.

By building a culture that prioritizes both workforce well-being and patient safety, we help healthcare workers flourish and reconnect with why they chose this work. Join us in strengthening culture and sustaining our healthcare workforce.

Introduction to Just Culture Executive Briefing Webinar

SCHA members are invited to a virtual Just Culture Executive Briefing webinar: a 60-minute introduction to the Just Culture model, its core concepts, and how it supports a learning environment. This session is designed to help key senior leaders & operational stakeholders understand the model and the benefits of Just Culture as a system of workplace justice in high-complexity work settings.

In-Person Just Culture Training Course

Take part in the MUSC Health Just Culture Specialist Certification Program and gain the skills to create a fair, learning-focused safety culture in your organization. This interactive training equips leaders and staff with practical tools to respond to errors, manage risk, and foster psychological safety—balancing individual accountability with system-level improvement.

Learn from real-world scenarios, apply the Just Culture Algorithm™, and leave with actionable strategies to strengthen reporting, engagement, and trust across your organization.

To ensure a highly interactive learning experience, the course is capped at 40 participants, with registration accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Phase I: May 21, 2026, 10am – 4pm, The River Center at Saluda Shoals Park, Columbia
  • Phase II: June 11, 2026: 10am – 4pm, The Meech House at Mungo Park, Columbia
  • Phase III: July 16, 2026: 10am – 3pm, The River Center at Saluda Shoals Park, Columbia
  • Phase IV: July 22, 2026: 2pm – 3pm, Virtual, link will be provided

(Participants must attend all sessions to be eligible to sit for the Just Culture Certification Exam.)

Virtual Just Culture Training Course

Join us for a 3-day Virtual Just Culture Champion Course in partnership with ECRI. Participants will build a strong foundation in Just Culture principles, learn to differentiate between human error, at-risk behavior, and reckless behavior, and gain skills to strengthen psychological safety, drive accountability, and improve organizational performance. Reserve your spot to gain the tools and support needed to lead with fairness, strengthen psychological safety, and drive continuous improvement across your organization. To ensure a highly interactive learning experience, the course is capped at 40 participants, with registration accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dates: September 30 – October 2, 9am – 2pm each day

(Attendance at all sessions is required to be eligible to sit for the Just Culture Certification Exam.)
