SCHA Receives New Grant to Support Workforce Experience Efforts
It’s a new year, and we’ve got new ways for you to engage with our Work.Harmony.You. (WHY) Initiative! We are pleased to announce that SCHA has been recently awarded a new one-year grant from the Duke Endowment to expand and build upon our efforts to help hospitals transform the healthcare work experience by addressing the root causes of burnout, disengagement, and turnover.
Be on the lookout for these exciting new offerings this year!
- WHY Executive Fellowship: Building upon the success of our WHY We Lead series for mid-level managers, this premier professional development opportunity is tailored exclusively for executive hospital leaders who are committed to transforming workplace systems and culture to prioritize staff wellbeing, engagement, and retention. This interactive and immersive year-long program will feature monthly group sessions, peer-led case studies, one-to-one executive coaching, and a personalized capstone project designed to improve the workforce experience. The fellowship will begin in March, and applications will be open January 5 – 23, 2026. Click here to learn more or apply!
- WHY We Lead Alumni Coaching: Over the past two years, almost 100 mid-level leaders working in SC hospitals have graduated from our WHY We Lead program. In 2026, a limited number of these alumni will have the opportunity to receive individualized coaching to foster personal growth, strategic insight, and professional resilience, tailored to each participant’s leadership development goals.
- Just Culture Training: Comprehensive training for certification and implementation of this value-centric system to cultivate psychological safety and build a culture of trust. One virtual training and one in-person training will be provided.
- Workplace Violence Simulation Training: Partnering with Prisma Health, SCHA will provide three regional workplace violence simulation trainings to better prepare and equip SC hospital leaders to prevent and respond to workplace violence incidents.
WHY will continue its core activities, including our Tell Me WHY podcast, Mental Health First Aid trainings, and our Reimagining WHY learning collaborative. To learn more about WHY, visit www.scwhy.org.
