SCHA Announces New Quality Improvement Partnership

October 26, 2020

For many years, SCHA has partnered with hospital quality improvement groups like Premier to take part in federal programs like the Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) and, later, the Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN). Now that the latter program has come to an end, SCHA is launching a new partnership with the Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) as part of the federally-funded Hospital Quality Improvement Contract (HQIC). We’re very excited to be working with HSAG because of their incredible success in these efforts, successes which include being highest-ranked performer of the 16 HIINs.

As part of the contract, HSAG will provide customized, data-driven quality improvement assistance to meet the specific needs of small, rural, and critical access hospitals, those serving vulnerable populations, and hospitals facing quality improvement challenges. The CMS Quality Goals of decreasing opioid misuse, increasing patient safety, and increasing the quality of care transitions will be the primary areas of focus, along with other specific goals around improving patient and family engagement, improving health equity, creating a culture of safety, and enhancing pandemic response and planning.

Only a subset of hospitals can participate—if you are eligible, your Quality Department should have already been contacted by our Quality Manager Beth Morgan, and a list of qualified hospitals is available here. Additional information about the program is available on this flyer.

This is a wonderful opportunity to continue making strides in patient safety and quality improvement for your facility in the next decade. The participation agreement is available here. Please contact Beth at bmorgan@scha.org with any additional questions or concerns.
