MUSC Health, Self Regional and Pelham Medical Center Win Major Awards from SC Quality Forum
The South Carolina Governor’s Quality Award recognizes organizations that achieve excellent performance in developing, implementing and deploying a quality management system based on the Baldrige Performance Excellence Criteria.
South Carolina hospitals took home many of the prestigious prizes in the last two years, with the Medical University of South Carolina winning the 2019 Governor’s Quality Award and Pelham Medical Center winning the Silver Achiever Award. In 2018, Self Regional received the Governor’s Quality Award.
Meeting the Baldridge Performance criteria is a monumental task, and the process alone encourages organizations to improve as they continue to become more highly reliable organizations. Recipients of these awards have made immense strides in their organization’s journey toward the pinnacle of quality awards, The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
The South Carolina Hospital Association was honored to be the host site for the South Carolina Governor’s Quality Award Conference for these hospitals’ official recognition ceremony, and we congratulate the recipients on the time and effort they gave to not only improve processes for better outcomes, but literally change their organization’s culture. That kind of change requires strategic support from leadership and a relentless commitment to resilience – analyzing, evaluating, and monitoring data – to achieve better results, and they deserve to be recognized for their commitment to patient safety in their facilities and health systems.
