Director, Behavioral Health

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Minimum five to ten years of professional experience in healthcare related field
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and problem-solving skills with significant experience in building diverse partnerships
BASIC FUNCTION:
The director, behavioral health leads SCHA’s behavioral health initiatives by connecting, coordinating, and communicating state and local efforts aimed at improving the behavioral health system of care. The director partners with state and local partners across multiple initiatives, effectively connecting hospitals to resources and sharing lessons learned and best practices.
DUTIES:
- Develop and lead implementation of SCHA’s behavioral health initiatives, including those in partnership with CaroNova
- Identify topics, secure presenters, and coordinate details of learning collaborative sessions
- Coordinate with the SC Department of Health and Human Services, SC Department of Health and Human Services, and other partners on state and local initiatives improving the behavioral health system of care
- Regularly review and update information provided on SCHA’s behavioral health webpage
- Identify and understand resource gaps for behavioral health care and help hospitals address and coordinate within their communities for improvement
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities, complete related progress reports, and ensure timely submission
- Identify best practices and write best practice reports
- Coordinate with reporting entities and data sources to ensure that hospitals are able to efficiently capture and report identified metrics
- Maintain an awareness of local/state behavioral health improvement initiatives and regularly participate in their partner meetings related to behavioral health system improvements
- Advise SCHA’s and CaroNova’s communications and policy teams on messaging, activities, and outcomes related to system improvement work
- Evaluate and communicate proposed or emerging federal and state behavioral health policy changes as they pertain to hospitals and health systems
- Assist the SCHAF president in developing and maintaining relationships with current and potential funders
- Other duties as assigned
SPAN OF SUPERVISION: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Substantial in-state and out-of-state vehicle travel
- In-person coordination with other SCHA teams and CaroNova
