South Carolina Hospital Association Launches “Heartbeat of SC” Public Awareness Campaign
The South Carolina Hospital Association announces the launch of its statewide public awareness campaign, “Heartbeat of SC,” designed to highlight the essential role hospitals play in saving lives, strengthening communities, and driving South Carolina’s economy.
Every day, hospitals across the Palmetto State deliver life-saving care, welcome new lives, and restore health for nearly two million patients annually. Beyond their critical health mission, hospitals are a cornerstone of South Carolina’s economic vitality. According to recent analysis, hospitals generate $36.7 billion in gross economic output, support more than 203,000 jobs, and provide more than $3.2 billion in charity and uncompensated care to ensure access for all.
“Hospitals play a central role in not just our state’s health, but also as employers and engines of economic growth,” says SCHA President & CEO Thornton Kirby. “They are truly the heartbeat of South Carolina.”
