Adult Mental Health First Aid Certification
According to SCHA’s Workforce Experience Survey, respondents working in SC hospitals had higher rates of anxiety and depression than the general population and only 37% said their workplace fosters a climate of acceptance for employees experiencing emotional and mental health concerns. As part of our comprehensive effort to improve the healthcare work experience, SCHA’s WHY initiative is offering a series of Adult Mental Health First Aid certification trainings to SCHA members. Just as CPR provides skills needed to assist someone having a heart attack, MHFA equips hospital staff to support those experiencing a mental health or substance use-related challenge or crisis.
MHFA is an interactive, skills-based training program that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges. Participants will gain skills and confidence needed to provide initial support to a colleague who’s struggling.
This training will be held at Lexington Medical Center on Thursday, August 28, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per participant. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and breaks will be provided. Two hours of pre-work are required for each registrant. Enrollment is limited, and the deadline for registration is August 14. Learn more and register here.
