SC Opioid Recovery Fund
The South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund (SCORF) was created by the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Act to administer and disperse funds from opioid settlement agreements. Money from the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund will be distributed by the SCORF Board to help address and remediate the impact of the opioid epidemic in South Carolina. Funding is available for proven methods for combating the opioid epidemic, which includes everything from training and education for care professionals and supporting first responders to recovery housing, addressing the needs of children and families affected by the opioid crisis, and other support services. Core strategies include:
- Expanding access to naloxone and other overdose reversal drugs
- Increasing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) availability
- Supporting pregnant and postpartum women with opioid use disorder
- Expanding treatment for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS)
- Improving warm handoff programs and recovery services
- Providing treatment for incarcerated individuals
- Implementing prevention programs
- Expanding syringe service programs
- Data collection and research to analyze effectiveness
