Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum five years of experience in all aspects of the accounting cycle, including A/R, A/P, bank and GL reconciliations and reporting.
  • Proficient in generally accepted accounting principles
  • Understanding of federal and state grant accounting
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Advanced Excel knowledge is required. Experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning-type accounting system (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics, GP, Sage Systems, SAP, etc.) preferred.

Basic Function

This position provides leadership of the internal accounting and finance functions of the South Carolina Hospital Association and its affiliates, the South Carolina Hospital Research and Education Foundation and Solvent Networks.

Duties

  • Direct accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Coordinate a clean and timely year-end audit annually.
  • Direct and oversee cash flow management and investments.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal financial regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual budget process for SCHA and its affiliates.
  • Assist leadership in preparing departmental and affiliate budgets.
  • Provide, analyze, educate, and discuss accurate departmental and affiliate budget performance reports to leadership on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Analyze and provide monthly organizational financial statements to management.
  • Ensure payments are made and invoices submitted timely and accurately.
  • Ensure completion and submission of state and federal tax returns.
  • Complete financial reporting for local, state, and federal grants and contracts.
  • Allocate payroll expense in the GL.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to keep information confidential.
  • Possess a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, written and oral skills.
  • Advanced capabilities in Excel and high proficiency in other Microsoft Office products.
