A Series of Hope – Part One: Cancer
In March 2020, the SCHA Board of Trustees authorized an Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Council with a major goal of acknowledging and responding to the racial and socio-economic health disparities that exist in our communities. A Series of Hope is a video series sponsored by the SCHA Foundation and St. Mark United Methodist Church of Taylors, SC that seeks to raise awareness about the health conditions that disparately impact Black communities. It’s well documented that heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and stroke are the leading causes of death for Black Americans. We hope this video will be used as an educational tool with the supporting discussion guide to help facilitate group discussions about the burden of cancer on Black communities with local churches, schools, health clinics and community organizations.
