State Updating Online Death Certificate Registration System
South Carolina Vital Statistics will be updating their online system to register death certificates effective January 4, 2020. Hospitals, funeral homes, and coroners will be accessing the system from a different website URL but the major functionality of the system will remain consistent with the previous system. The system will be compatible with the major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Explorer) and will even be mobile compatible. Before the go-live date users will receive an email with a new temporary password. The usernames will not change. The first time they log into the system from the new website it will prompt them to change their password.
One notable change in the new system is the addition of a new Burial-Removal-Transit Permit (BRTP) system. This will allow for better storage and tracking of BRTPs. As soon as the production URL is available, we will email that to facilities so that they can make appropriate exceptions on their firewalls.
