Program DescriptionThis two-day workshop will teach educators how to implement the Anatomy in Clay® Learning System, a unique curriculum system which helps students create a kinesthetic map of the human anatomy. Participants will learn the parts of the system and how to utilize the system in a classroom setting. With Anatomy in Clay®, students build a comprehensive human anatomy using a Maniken and reusable modeling clay. By creating each muscle in a step by step process, students will learn the function of each body system and how they are interrelated. Building a human anatomy from inside out is an effective approach because students must learn the function of each part in order to put the whole system together. Who Should Attend and WhyThe Anatomy in Clay® Workshop, an intense, hands-on experience, is open to educators from South Carolina high schools. Due to a contract award from the South Carolina Department of Education, SCHA is able to provide a complete Anatomy in Clay® Learning System to 7 workshop participants. Workshop participants will need to complete the provided mini-grant application and indicate how they plan to utilize the system to incorporate instruction of health careers in a classroom setting. All completed mini-grant applications will be reviewed and 7 participants will receive a full classroom set to keep at their school.
