Pres. Obama signed into law, HR. 3590, the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act." This legislation will expand coverage to 32 million people and 481,000 in South Carolina who are presently uninsured. The bill also enacts significant insurance market reforms and lays a solid foundation upon which we can continue to build.

Jim Bentley Discusses Implications of Health Care Reform Debate During SCHA Annual Meeting

Jim Bentely, PhD, formerly with the American Hospital Association as the senior vice president for strategic policy planning, presented at this year's 89th SCHA Annual Meeting. During his presentation he outlined the implication of the health reform debate and shared his predictions regarding the prospects for national health reform.

The televised live meeting lasted seven hours and covered a variety of topics including pre-existing conditions, regulations for insurance companies, and the high cost of current health programs.
